ACHIEVEMENTS

AWARDS
BECN CEO Anne Paterson was presented with the Outstanding Community Service award in 2006 and was a finalist in the Business Woman of the Year awarded by The Sydney Business Review.

FACILITATION
In 2004/05 BECN was awarded a contract to deliver the Women in Business Mentor programme for the State Government. We also were successful in gaining a SARD (State & Regional Development) contract which covers a much greater area than before. BECN now provides facilitation services to the entire Northern Beaches BEC area.

TRAINING
BECN are a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) delivering nationally recognised accredited courses

The hard work and dedication of BECN allows us to work with over 160 NEIS students each year. BECN were given 22 Extra NEIS places in 2004 and a further 16 extra NEIS places 2005. We continued to provide first class small business training throughout 2006 and 2007 is looking very busy.

As an approved VET provider we now deliver training to Mature Aged clients so if you are thinking of starting a new business, the NEIS programme may be available to help you.

A new category of NEIS places is now available for job seekers aged 50 years or over and not on any income support allowance – known as Non-Allowee Mature Age (NAMA) job seekers. You will receive the same NEIS training, business plan assessment, and ongoing guidance and mentoring through the first year of your business operation that all other NEIS applicants receive. However, you will not receive income support and rental assistance.

Under contract to DET we have delivered courses in Cert IV Small Business, Certificate IV Workplace training/Assessor, Certificate IV Front-Line Management and commenced the Home Based Business Training Programme.

BECN runs short courses in MYOB, Import Export, Intro to Small Business, Marketing, Cash Management and more.

SERVICES
In 2005 BECN established a series of Import/Export seminars. These informative and effective seminars continue to run very successfully, so book a seat today.

Other business seminars for small business operators cover Marketing, Bookkeeping, Management skills, Locating suitable premises, and Importing/Exporting Business Planning.

Each month a NEIS brain-storming group for all existing and established NEIS clients is conducted.

BECN has established a Small Business network group for women looking at self-employment through small business.
