PROGRAMMES

BECN provides training, services and small business facilitation for the following Government programmes

New Enterprise Incentive Scheme ( NEIS)
NEIS

The NEIS is a Federal Government initiative that helps you become self- sufficient and independent by establishing a new small business.

This scheme is for people who are currently receiving an approved government benefit or who are aged over 50 and not on income support but are entitled to receive job search assitance.

Approved applicants will receive training in small business management, business skills and assistance to develop your business plan.

A NEIS allowance and rental assistance can be provided by the Federal government to eligible applicants.
You will receive business advice and mentoring support in the first 12 months of your business operation. More Info


Department of Education and Training (DET)
DET

DET (State Government Department of Education and Training) contracts RTO’s (Registered Training Organisations) to provide courses in the area of Business and Info Technology. These courses may attract a small enrollement fee subject to government requirements.

The type of courses offered varies according to government funding requirement.


Women In Business ( WIB)

WIB funded by SARD (NSW Department of State and Regional Development)

Programme helps emerging women business owners (mentorees) grow their business by linking them with experienced business people (mentors).  Using a combination of mentoring and practical sessions, the Program assists women improve their business skills and confidence, foster networking and successfully manage business growth. Business Skills Vouchers for Apprentices

From 1 January 2007, Business Skills Vouchers worth up to $500 will be available to apprentices or newly qualified tradespersons in traditional trades as a contribution towards the costs of undertaking accredited business skills training.

Business Skills Vouchers will assist apprentices to appreciate the long term benefits of running a business and the rate of return they may achieve from their training in the future if they own a small or medium size business. “Australian Skills Vouchers is an Australian Government Initiative”. Work Skills Vouchers

A higher level of business skills will provide a stronger foundation for future success in self-employment, as well as making them more attractive to employers.

From 1 January 2007, Work Skills Vouchers worth up to $3000 will be available to interested Australians aged 25 and over who do not have Year 12 or a Certificate II level qualification.
The vouchers will improve the basic skills of Australians currently in the workforce or looking for work who have no formal qualifications. 

Improvements in basic skills will help people who are already in employment to move into higher level positions and assist those who are looking for work to find jobs.

Advisory Service

Funded by SARD (NSW Department of State and Regional Development) The NSW Government supports organisations around the State to provide free business advisory services to people starting and operating a business and assist you to expand your existing business or to explore new business ideas.

Business advisory services provide assistance, seminars/workshops and networking opportunities for business owners and managers to plan their growth and development.


Innovation Advisory Service

People in small business often have bright ideas about new or improved products, services or processes.  Generating ideas and being innovative are important contributors to business success.

Research has shown that innovation, when properly managed, can produce a higher rate of return than many other forms of investment.  The NSW Government is committed to advancing innovation and provides assistance to promote the adoption of innovation in business.
